Valentine’s Day can be a difficult time of the year for some people but it can also be the perfect time for you to show yourself a little extra love and care at home. Yvonne Keal, Senior Product Manager at www.Hillarys.co.uk, shares her ideas for creating a relaxing home environment this February.
Sleep easy in the bedroom
Ensure that your bedroom is a calm oasis as a good night’s sleep goes hand in hand with a tidy bedroom and effective light control. Use a sheer roller blind as a base to help control light levels during the day, then pair with a Roman with a black outlining to ensure sweet dreams.
Cosy up in the living room
Decorating your living room using calming colours is the perfect way to create a relaxing environment. Neutrals are an obvious colour choice for a calming colour scheme, but when overused can feel a little bland. For a wash of warmth add some earthy coloured accessories such as a terracotta table lamp or a dusty blue throw.
Socialise in the dining space
As your dining space is one of the most important areas in your home to socialise with others, why not invite your friend over for dinner. To make the space inviting and comfortable, decorate the room with soft furnishings and sheer window dressings to let in light.
Pamper yourself in the bathroom
Turn your bathroom into your own little spa to give yourself some well deserved TLC. Faux Wood Venetian blinds are great for the humid atmosphere within your bathroom whilst also bringing a softer feel to your windows. For a minimalist change, place a few select tiles around your mirror or if you’re feeling bold lay down some marbled floor tiles for more of a statement.
Wind down in the garden
Head out to your favourite spot in the garden to take in the fresh air and clear your mind. As the weather in February can be a little chilly, make sure you have your outdoor blanket or heater within reach.
