Your kitchen might have become a little neglected over the winter months. It can often get forgotten about, other than the day to day cleaning and wiping down that occurs. So now we are in spring, it is the perfect time to give it a spring clean. It is one of the rooms in the house that can experience a lot of humidity so it can need a good airing out. As well as the cleaning side of things, there might be a few things that you could do to make sure that your kitchen is ready for spring.
Open up the windows to make sure that the room can air out. You don’t want to get any mould or damp in the kitchen. The next thing to do is to add some fresh flowers or green plants. This will help to purify the air in the kitchen too. They look beautiful of course too, don’t they?
One thing that you could do is invest in some shelving. It isn’t much of an investment to be honest, as there is such a variety available for all budgets. Open shelving can give your kitchen a much more open and airy feel. It can light up the room and open visually open up space. You can see everything on the shelving and so it makes it a most useful kitchen update too. Getting a few new accessories like some pastel coloured bowls or a turquoise cookware set, will looking stunning on the shelving too.
Having a dark and dingy kitchen is not what you want. You could update the room with some new paint. You could even just paint one wall and have a feature wall if you can’t think about updating the whole room. Pastel colours can look amazing during the springtime painting the walls is a bit much, then you could opt to paint a few of the wall tiles. This can add such an amazing new look to these, without costing a lot of money or taking up a lot of time. You could even choose to sand down and paint the cabinets if you are feeling brave. It would cost a lot less than having the kitchen cabinets replaced anyway.
If you don’t fancy painting the kitchen, then you could brighten it up with lighting. Getting a new main light in the kitchen can add a lot of brightness. Choose a fixture that has a lot of space for several bulbs. That way you can angle them to different parts of the kitchen and brighten up the place. Lighting can make such a difference. If your kitchen doesn’t currently have any lighting for the worktops, then that is something to consider. It adds a different dimension to the room, as you could work by those lights instead of the main ones.
Are you planning on having a spring clean in your kitchen? I’d love to hear what you think and what your plans are.
