If you are lucky enough to have a pool in your home, whether indoors or outdoors, you’ll want to make sure that it’s as healthy as possible at all times. Not only do you want to avoid creating any potential illnesses for you and your family, but keeping your pool in good condition ensures that it doesn’t get contaminated too quickly.

Pools generally tend to be out in the open, so having pool cleaners do it for you is a great way to keep it healthy, but you can also keep it clean yourself. A good pool cleaner will be easy to maintain in your swimming pool and keep your home in the best possible condition. It can sound like your pool is going to take a lot of maintenance, but once you know what to do, you’ll see that it’s not too difficult. It’s very easy to upkeep and you’ll be able to enjoy your pool as much as possible during the summer months. Here is how you can keep your brand-new pool as healthy as possible.

Keeping Your New Pool Healthy

  • Take a look at the surroundings. If you have a lot of trees where your swimming pool is, you might want to make sure that you are equipped with the right kind of rake and vacuum. You must be able to rake out any debris from the falling trees and vacuum the area as much as possible. You can use knitting to remove dirt and debris on top of the pool surface, but you could hire a professional pool cleaner to come in and do it yourself. They’ll be able to remove any fallen waste such as twigs, branches and leaves. You should invest in a good scoop with a telescopic pole as well because it comes with an extra broad net which helps you to get to every corner of the pool from one side.
  • Make sure that you buy the pH level checkers. The pH level of your pool determines whether or not the water is acidic. To maintain its sanitation, you should keep your pH level as low as possible. It still has to be safe for your skin as well, so there is a delicate balance. Pool water for a swimming pool should always have a pH between 7.2 and 7.6.
  • Keep the filter clean. Even if the chemicals are adequate, dirty filters can make your pool water hazy or green. Would you want to dive into a green swimming pool? Because most people wouldn’t. Filters do come in various forms though, and they all have their instructions on how to keep them clean. Make sure that you are keeping your Filter clean often.
  • Be cautious with chlorine. Most people with private pools will use chlorine pills to maintain the cleanliness and clarity of the water. Be cautious when you use them though, because you don’t want to overshoot it. Chlorine can be damaging to the skin if it’s used in high amounts.
