Candy Tolentino

What inspires you?

Talent inspires me. Passion inspires me. The pure love you see from a mother to a child inpires me. I guess I am perpetually inspired by the things that make us human, connected, alive, and the things that make our hearts beat.

I’m good at…

Connecting with people, helping to solve their problems, helping them to see a brither future, a silver lining in a cloud. I’m good at getting other people to see why they shouldn’t give up, just as I haven’t. We’re all here for a reason and I don’t feel any of our work is done until we share our gifts with someone else who needs them.

I’m bad at…

If I’m being honest, being on time – I’m terrible with time. I’m also bad at saying NO to people, and protecting my time from those who would take all of it! I havet o get better at that!

What are the highlights of your career thus far?

One highlight was being chosen out of 100K+ entreprenuers to appar on a reality show with Richard Branson, and learn tricks of the trade and inspiration from one of the most prolific entrepreneurs on our time. Another highlight was launching my first successful business – a company where I sold raw, vegan cheesecakes to stores like Whole Foods.

My little passion for healthy food I actually craved and could DIGEST, because an ”engine that could” that affected so many people’s lives in a positive way. Itruly believe that that is what being a heart-centered entreprenuer is all about.- creating a solution that solves a problem that in turn makes the world a better place. If we all shared our gifts in this way, we’d literally create the ”New Earth” Eckhart Tolle talks about.

What inspired you to become an Author?

I knew that I had a concept and story worth telling- that life after 40 can be much more fulfilling for women than even life before. I new that there were people out there that needed to hear this message. I also felt that all too often we are bombarded with messages in the media practically worshiping youth and discarding women in the PRIME of our lives. My message speaks to them, and speaks to anyone interested in reinventing herself, and living life full on, with meaning and with broadened perspective.

Tell us about your book ’How to win the game of life after 40’.

This book breaks down PRACTICAL WAYS to live your best life – whether that’s starting your own business, freeing yourself from toxic relationships, learning to love onself, despite the ”flaws” you see in the mirror.

This book is all about what we came here to do – WIN, enjoy, create, inspire, stretch ourselves, yearn for more, give more, be more. So many of us want these things, but don’t know exactly how to achieve them, so this book is designed as a roadmap of exactly how to do it! Anyone can apply these principles, and anyone can level up her life and benefit from this conscious approach to better living.

What is your advice for women entering their forties?

My advice is to tell yourself something you love about yourself everyday- something you are grateful for. Can you appreciate the fact that you can read a book? Can you appreciate the fact that you know more now then you knew when you were 20?

Can you appreciate the fact that at 40, you can still be vibrant, youthful, alluring, magnetic, creative, yet you are probably more powerful and more wise than you have ever been! Can you appreciate that you are stepping into an arena where women like you, have literally changed industries and influenced the WORLD, in their 40’s and BEYOND. As you will see from my examples in the book, you are in great company- celebrate girl!

Tell us about your retreats.

I believe in taking a moment away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immersing oneself in a place of pure love, growth, wonder, and enchantment. That’s what these retreats are designed to provide, and my first offerings are in my favorite place in the world- the ”land of the gods”- Bali. It is one of the best places I know of to support this mission.

What was the biggest change you noticed when you turned 40?

My biggest challenge was resisting the temptation to allow society’s stereotype of what 40 was supposed to be, onto me.

What is your favourite exercise?

I love love love Zumba!

What has been the most exciting collaboration you’ve worked on so far?

Hmmm, not sure – pitch me an idea!

What are you working on at the moment?

I am finishing the final edits for my book, planning to ”Ultimate Life” Retreats in Bali, and already working on ideas for my next book – how to REALLY get the Law of Attraction to work the way you want it to in your life. Oh, and in between all this, I am coaching women on how to launch business, harness confidence, and live life on their own terms, while taking no prisoners and being independently wealthy with no apologies.

Do you have any words of wisdom that you would like to pass on?

Yes, this too shall pass. You are unique, blessed, talented. The hard times are here to show you what you are made of- the good times are here to provide you a reward. Be thankful and conscious of all of it- so you don’t miss a MOMENT of growth in this life. 😉

What is your most treasured possession?

Can I refer to my son as a possession? I don’t own him, by any measure. Yet at the same time, he has always been mine. 😉 *I have no wordly possessions that mean too mcuh tom e- even things you would think that would really count- like my deceased mother’s clothes and jewelry- I love them but at the end of the day, they are just things. I care about people. )

What is your must-have item for next season?

A rountrip plane ticket to someplace special – preferably first class!! 😉

Who’s your favourite Style Icon?

Halle Berry and many of her awards dresses give me life. Lupita N’yongo as well.

Most inspirational person you have met?

Maya Angelou – in my dreams. 😉

Your favourite location?

Bali. (Ubud, to be specific. Join me and you’ll understand why).

In a nutshell, your philosophy is…

Be kind to people, even when they don’t deserve it- kindness costs nothing, but it lifts the vibration of the whole Universe, and we can use much more of that. To your best life my dears…
